Evangelism & Discipleship

OUR METHOD OF CULTIVATING CARING DISCIPLES FOR JESUS

Our four major departments, (Children’s Ministries, Youth Ministries, Adult Ministries, Nazarene Missions International) will develop age appropriate discipleship programs and activities consistent with the model outlined below.  While the programs may reflect age sensitive differences, our vision and purpose will remain the same i.e. “cultivating caring, devoted disciples for Jesus Christ.”  These departments will collaborate interdeparmentally, to integrate these programs into the total life of the church for maximum effectiveness.

At First Community, our model for a caring, Christ-centered ministry is to…

CONNECT THEM: Reach out and engage those adults, youth and children needing a personal relationship with Christ through our normal activities in the community.  We will also connect with the unsaved through a variety of planned church based programs.  The Adult, Youth and Children’s Ministries will develp need based programs (social, recreational, educational, etc.) which will provide additional opportunities for believers to build positive caring friendships with those who need to know Christ.  Interested individuals will be invited to a vision meeting with the pastor and lay leaders of the church.  At this meeting, the ministries of the church are explained to them.  The meeting is designed to inspire believers to commit themselves to the visionary ministry of First Community.

CULTIVATE THEM: Training will be provided in radical obedience and devotion to the Lord.  Every believer will be encouraged to enroll in a Care Group (Training in Bible knowledge, prayer and ministry) where individuals experience the loving support and fellowship of devoted disciples of Jesus Christ.  Here, discipleship is defined by personal growth in Christian Holiness and Humility in serving one another.  These character traits will be modeled by the pastor and lay leaders who encourage others to “Follow me as I follow Christ”.  The weekly/bi-weekly Group Bible Studies will be augmented, quarterly by the FCCN Academy which offers a variety of courses within the overall First Community

Discipleship Development Program.

COMMISSION THEM: Those who complete our leadership training and have given themselves devotedly to the work of the kindgom are publicly commissioned as qualified Care Group Leaders who will be charged with the responsibility for developing the next generation of Servant-Leaders at First Community Church of the Nazarene.
